How to count

Five steps to the number

  • 1. List the zonesEntrance, till, sales floor, storeroom, yard, car park — every zone that needs watching.
  • 2. Define the task in each zoneA general overview is one thing. Making out a face or a number plate is another: for that the camera is placed closer with a narrower view.
  • 3. Start with the entranceA camera at the entrance is needed almost always: everyone passes through it.
  • 4. Check the blind spotsShelving, columns and corners block the view. Sometimes two cameras from different sides are needed instead of one.
  • 5. Large groundsIn a yard, a car park or around a warehouse, one pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera gives the overview, while fixed cameras cover the gate and the entrance.
