Resolution

What to know

  • 2 MPThis is Full HD, 1920 by 1080 pixels. Enough for a small room, a corridor, an entrance.
  • 4 MPUsually 2560 by 1440 pixels. Noticeably more detail with a moderate growth of the archive. A common choice for a shop or an office.
  • 8 MPThis is 4K, 3840 by 2160 pixels. For large halls, warehouses and grounds where distant areas need to be zoomed in on footage.
  • The price of resolutionThe higher the resolution, the more space footage takes and the more capable the recorder must be.
  • Not megapixels aloneThe lens, the sensor and the light make the picture too. At night without light, megapixels will not help.
Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it true that more megapixels is always better?

Not always. In a small room extra megapixels only shorten the archive.

Can a recorder record less than the camera delivers?

Yes, if it does not support the camera's resolution. That is why the recorder is chosen to suit the cameras.

Who selects the resolution for the site?

We do: we look at the distances and tasks on site and select the cameras. The visit and the estimate are free.
